We’re currently hiring a Quality Control Specialist – Gravel to support our heavy civil construction operations. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to conduct field and laboratory testing of construction materials and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. If you're analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to grow in the construction industry, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
As a Quality Control Specialist – Gravel, you will:
Conduct field and laboratory testing on aggregate, soils, asphalt, concrete, and compaction/density materials.
Ensure all materials meet project specifications and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
Proactively identify material inconsistencies and assist with implementing corrective actions.
Maintain accurate and organized test documentation and daily records.
Communicate test results and concerns to project managers, superintendents, and foremen.
Support general shop and yard duties, including cleanliness, equipment organization, parts pickup, and occasional pilot car driving.
Travel to job sites across Montana as needed to support ongoing projects.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
2+ years of experience in construction materials testing or related field preferred.
Strong math and analytical skills.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Willingness to travel for remote project support.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a lab or with construction testing equipment (nuclear density gauge, sieves, slump cone, etc.).
Familiarity with ASTM/AASHTO testing procedures and DOT standards.
Prior experience in gravel or aggregate quality control is a strong plus.
