Description: The Quality Engineer is responsible for the performance and continuous improvement of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) and overall product quality. This role drives root cause problem solving, reduces cost of poor quality, and ensures compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements. The position partners cross-functionally to improve manufacturing processes, increase first pass yield, supplier development and support scalable growth in a high-mix, custom wire & cable manufacturing environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Own and maintain the ISO 9001 QMS, including document control, audits, and management review support. Develop standardized work for critical to quality characteristics
• Lead and facilitate 8D corrective actions for internal, external, and supplier issues
• Perform root cause analysis using 5-Why, Fishbone, DMAIC, and PDCA
• Drive reduction in scrap, COPQ, and partners with operations to improve first pass yield
• Lead internal and external audits (ISO 9001, UL, ASTM, customer audits)
• Define, standardize and improve in-process inspection methods and controls
• Manage First Article Inspections and customer quality submissions
• Monitor and report quality metrics (PPM, scrap, Cpk, rework)
• Support calibration, MSA, SPC, and automated inspection/test systems
• Train employees on quality requirements and drive continuous improvement initiatives


Required Qualifications:
• ISO 9001, CAPA, nonconformance management, and internal auditing
• Quality tools: 8D, SPC, MSA, FMEA, control plans, statistical analysis
• Manufacturing processes: wire & cable, extrusion, assembly, electrical and mechanical testing
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Proficiency with MRP/ERP, Microsoft 365 and quality data systems

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
• Six Sigma Green Belt preferred (or demonstrated experience with structured problem-solving)

• Thermocouple wire/high-temp materials / fluoropolymer experience is a plus

Physical & Environmental Requirements:
Manufacturing and office environments. Requires standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 lbs. regularly and up to 55 lbs. occasionally. Work involves exposure to machinery, moderate noise levels, and use of inspection and test equipment.
The production environment is typical of many indoor manufacturing facilities. This is a “Safety First” facility P.P.E. gear is mandatory with no exceptions. The noise generated within the facility is moderate but sometimes using certain equipment may require hearing protection. Employees around moving and heated equipment sometimes with extreme temperatures.
