Quality Engineer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Respond to the immediate needs of production or the customer by troubleshooting and assisting with problem-solving and quality concern resolution (5-whys; Cause/effect diagrams; etc.). Document problem resolutions and corrective actions.


• Work with Sales, Field Service, and representatives to understand, define, and communicate customer expectations, including customer satisfaction measures.


• Monitor and help control scrap, including pare to and corrective action analysis. Where appropriate, provide for disposition of non-conforming material in a timely, economical manner and assure the proper preventive action is taken.


• Develop, revise, and maintain process documentation to support quality improvement.


• Measure and analyze key quality performance data; make recommendations on specific opportunities to improve quality.


• Maintain relationships with the Engineering Department regarding quality standards, inspection and test methods, supplier needs, drawing and specification clarity, and completeness.


• Assist to accomplish in-process, final, and vendor inspection tasks as required.


• Where appropriate, in cooperation with Purchasing, communicate to suppliers to identify and correct quality problems. Support vendor quality objectives. Maintain appropriate supplier and component history and records.


• Facilitate resolution and communication of customer problems identified through LifeLines (Corrective Action system).

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree from a 4 year College or University


• AND two years of related experience


• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• Familiarity with ISO9001 quality requirements.
