Job Summary: To develop quality plans and controls necessary to meet customer quality requirements and those aimed at improved monitoring of processes to reduce scrap. To qualify suppliers based upon execution of established procedures. To oversee and manage all quality measuring equipment, maintain calibration of such and routinely identify equipment which will improve the overall capability and technical capability of the organization. To supervise the CMM Programmer, CMM Technician, and Gage Calibration Technician Essential Duties: To oversee and manage the personnel and activities of Quality Engineering To develop quality plans commensurate with the level of control established by the organization To develop and approve appropriate inspection and process control plans in support of new projects/products and/or aimed at reducing scrap and rework To identify and procure gauging and equipment necessary for inspection of machined components To design and procure specialized gauging when required To ensure that calibration systems are controlled and traceable to established standards. To develop instructional materials necessary for the proper training of personnel engaged in the use of measuring equipment. To evaluate suppliers and provide information to purchasing for development of an “Approved Supplier List” (ASL), and establish supplier controls commensurate with the level of control exercised on that supplier as identified by the quality plan. To provide inputs to Quality Systems To control and maintain quality records applicable to this function. To support verification / validation activities as needed. Knowledge of: Metrology, SPC, gage R&R, statistical sampling, quality standards; IE:
ISO. Computer literacy with commonly used Microsoft Office products. Skills/Ability to: Effectively develop process and quality plans. Effectively control and communicate those plans to the organization. Ability to program various automated inspection equipment such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), and other programmable inspection equipment such as optical and laser inspection systems a plus. Acceptable Experience or Training: BSME, BSMT, or Associates Degree in Manufacturing Technologies and 5 years experience in manufacturing quality environment Supervisory experience and/or documented supervisory training preferred but not required Formal Quality System Training Specific technical training as required Specific procedural training identified in the Job Function Element Master List
