Job Summary: 

Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing quality assurance processes and procedures in an automotive manufacturing environment while working closely with the production and engineering teams to ensure that the highest standards of quality are achieved and maintained. To help design and implement inspection and testing procedures, develop quality control plans, and provide guidance and support to production personnel in the areas of problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action while creating and maintaining quality documentation, including process flow charts, control plans, and inspection and test reports. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality or related field experience in the automotive industry, and knowledge of quality systems such as ISO/TS 16949

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Engineer to join our automotive manufacturing team in a high paced environment. 

  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Operations group to develop and implement quality control systems in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Monitor and assist in improving the manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and customer-specific      requirements.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality issues using tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone diagrams.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audits.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to drive process improvements and prevent quality issues.
  • Manage and maintain control plans, FMEAs, PPAPs, and other quality documentation.
  • Manage and interface with customers regarding product quality concerns and follow-up.
  • Support launch of new products by ensuring quality planning and documentation are in place.
  • Track and report on key quality metrics (e.g., scrap, rework, PPM, first-pass yield).

Requirements

  

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, or a related field (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in a quality role within automotive manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC, and MSA.
  • Proficient in quality tools such as FMEA, control plans, 8D, and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements (e.g., Ford, GM, Toyota, Kia).
  • Experience with measurement tools and equipment (CMM, calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and root cause analysis. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and quality software systems (e.g., Minitab, QMS).
  • Strong attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills.

  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt)
  • CQE (Certified Quality Engineer)
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools

  

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position with a typical work schedule of 8-hour days with flexibility to adjust as necessary based on      production needs.
  • The work environment is a manufacturing plant with exposure to machinery,  noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Occasional travel may be required for customer interaction, training, meetings, or supplier plant assessments.
