The Opportunity
ALOM is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Supplier Quality team. You'll own the day-to-day work of qualifying suppliers, resolving quality issues, and driving corrective actions across our logistics, contract manufacturing, and medical device operations. It's a hands-on role for someone who likes solving problems directly with suppliers and cross-functional partners, and who wants exposure to a broad, regulated quality environment.
What You'll Do
Supplier Quality
- Lead supplier qualification, onboarding, evaluations, and periodic performance reviews
- Monitor supplier performance metrics (defects, nonconformances, corrective actions) and flag risks to Purchasing and Operations
- Support supplier audits end-to-end: preparation, documentation, follow-up, and corrective action tracking
- Maintain supplier quality records, specifications, and requirements documentation
Corrective Actions & Issue Resolution
- Investigate supplier-related quality issues and nonconformances; issue and manage SCARs
- Partner with suppliers on root cause analysis, corrective actions, and timelines, and verify closure
- Escalate overdue or significant issues to Quality management
- Analyze recurring issues to identify preventive action and continuous improvement opportunities
Incoming Quality, Regulatory & Documentation
- Support incoming inspection, containment activities, and investigations tied to supplier-provided materials or components
- Assist with regulatory registrations, licensing, renewals, and customer requests tied to supplier qualification
- Keep supplier and quality system records complete, accurate, and audit-ready; prepare quality reports and metrics
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work daily with Purchasing, Operations, and Client Success to resolve supplier and quality concerns
- Support new product introductions, supplier onboarding, and process changes
- Drive data-based problem-solving and contribute to supplier quality KPIs and improvement projects
What You Bring
Required
- 2–3 years in Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or a related function, including direct supplier work on quality issues, corrective actions, or performance improvement
- Working knowledge of root cause analysis, corrective action, and continuous improvement methods
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; comfortable managing multiple open issues at once
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience in a regulated industry — medical device, manufacturing, electronics, automotive, or logistics — preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Business, or related field — or equivalent experience
Nice to Have
- Supplier audit or assessment experience; SCAR management
- ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 experience
- Familiarity with eQMS platforms (e.g., Greenlight Guru) or ERP/supplier management systems
- ASQ certification (CQE or CSQP)
