The Quality Equipment Technician I performs hands-on technical support within the Quality Department to ensure equipment and measurement systems are maintained in a state of control. This role supports preventative maintenance (PM), equipment calibration, and equipment lifecycle tracking to ensure compliance with quality system requirements and uninterrupted production support. All work is performed in alignment with Aptyx Quality System requirements to ensure products and services meet customer expectations for quality, quantity, and timeliness.
Duties and Responsibilities
Comply with the Aptyx Quality System, including all applicable SOPs, work instructions, and Training Matrix requirements
Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and routine maintenance on production and quality-related equipment
Utilize equipment tracking systems (e.g., TrackPro or equivalent) to document PM activities and equipment status
Assist with and/or perform gauge and measuring instrument calibration activities, both in-house and through external vendors
Issue, maintain, and control unique identification numbers for gauges and equipment used throughout the organization
Maintain calibration records and ensure all measurement devices remain within calibration requirements; escalate overdue items as required
Identify and quarantine equipment or gauges that are out of service due to calibration or maintenance issues
Support coordination of external calibration services, including packaging, shipping, tracking, and receiving calibrated items
Create, maintain, and update equipment files/books, ensuring PM schedules are completed at defined intervals
Escalate missed or overdue PM/calibration activities to management in a timely manner
Support cleanroom equipment readiness and CER (Cleanroom Environmental Requirements) activities to maintain certification compliance
Support Installation Qualification (IQ) activities and basic equipment setup as needed
Perform other duties as assigned in support of Quality and Operations objectives
Qualifications
Experience in a lean manufacturing or regulated production environment is a plus
Basic understanding of manufacturing and quality systems
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to manage multiple routine and recurring tasks on daily, weekly, and monthly cycles
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Vocational or technical training preferred
Experience
2–5 years of experience in equipment maintenance, preventative maintenance, or technical support role
Experience with machine setup and basic Installation Qualification (IQ) activities preferred
Experience with gauge calibration or metrology systems required
Basic computer proficiency and experience using tracking systems or databases
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate work efficiently
Ability to use precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other metrology equipment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
Strong written communication skills for procedures, reports, and data entry
Detail-oriented with strong documentation discipline
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Basic troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position requires a combination of office, manufacturing floor, and cleanroom (CER) environment work. The employee must be able to:
Sit, stand, walk, and move throughout production and cleanroom areas
Use hands and fingers for computer work, equipment handling, and measurement activities
Lift, carry, or move equipment and materials as required (within safe limits)
Communicate effectively in person and through written documentation
Maintain normal visual and auditory acuity necessary for inspection and measurement tasks

Measurement of Performance
Timely completion of preventative maintenance and calibration activities to support production uptime
Accuracy and completeness of equipment and calibration documentation in tracking systems
Compliance with PM schedules and escalation of overdue items
Reduction of equipment-related downtime and repeat calibration issues
Successful support of CER/cleanroom compliance requirements with minimal disruptions
Timely completion of assigned quality and equipment-related tasks and reports
