General Description:

The Quality Improvement Specialist I supports the organization’s Quality Improvement program through reliable data collection, validation, analysis, and structured improvement support. This role develops foundational capability in measurement for improvement, variation analysis, and structured problem‑solving methodologies. The Specialist I contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by supporting frontline teams and quality partners in advancing patient safety, quality outcomes, experience, and operational performance.
 

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position and encompass all organization facilities, to include outlying Ambulatory Clinics.  Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.

Applies quality improvement and basic project management methods to support initiatives that strengthen clinical workflows, patient safety, and operational performance.

Supports improvement initiatives using structured methodologies such as PDSA, Lean, or A3 under guidance of senior quality staff.

Collects, validates, and organizes data to support quality improvement, performance monitoring, and reporting activities.

Develops basic run charts, dashboards, and visual displays to support tracking of process and outcome measures.

Monitors quality and operational performance measures under guidance and assists with identifying variation or performance trends.

Assists in compiling routine reports, dashboards, summaries, and presentation materials for quality committees, workgroups, and leadership.

Supports activities related to regulatory surveys, accreditation requirements, and quality program documentation.

Conducts quality reviews of selected clinical and operational performance indicators under guidance.

Works collaboratively with clinical teams, operational leaders, and other quality improvement staff to support coordinated progress on improvement initiatives.

Provides basic education to frontline staff on quality improvement tools, workflows, and project expectations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Health Informatics, Data Science, Business, Statistics, or related field required.

Experience: No experience required.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: None required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

  • Foundational knowledge of healthcare quality improvement and patient safety principles.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Foundational analytical and data interpretation skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint); experience with data visualization tools preferred.

  • Ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
