Quality Inspector - End of Line

Position Summary: 

The Quality Inspector- End of Line is responsible for performing final inspections to ensure the technical and cosmetic quality standards are met. The role may also be involved in carrying out inspections in other critical points in the production line as well. The position assesses the technical and cosmetic preparation of pianos, conducts audits, gathers data and reports on quality issues related to the various departments. The position must have solid piano technical skills in areas such as tuning, voicing, regulation…, as well as be well-versed in problem solving and maintain the ability to suggest and implement appropriate corrective actions. He/she must understand the workforce and be able to communicate effectively with all individuals in the organization at all levels. This position may also be involved with the inspection and preparation of pianos for international shipments. 

Main Responsibilities:

• Carries out the final product inspections at the end of the line. 
• Assesses regulation and voicing to ensure Steinway standards are met.
• Assesses cosmetic quality to ensure Steinway standards are met.
• Audits the process and operators for conformance to process specifications & manufacturing design drawings.      
• Responds to active quality issues with corrective action or preventative action.
• Initiates in-process hold and rejection procedures when defective material is identified on the shop floor. 
• Encourages & promotes quality awareness throughout the factory. 
• Provides quality information & feedback to tone regulation and the manufacturing team in conjunction with quality engineering efforts. 
• Develop and maintain quality checkpoints, quality inspection sheets. Maintain audits and constructive feedback to stakeholders of respective departments. 
• Support other piano technical needs within the factory, including participating in inspections for international shipments.
• Technically preparing pianos for international shipment by addressing regulation and voicing needs. 

Requirements

Qualifications, Education and Experience:

· High school degree with associates or higher degree in engineering, manufacturing, quality or related area

· 4+ years of piano technical training and experience (tuning, voicing, regulating)

· Experience working as a piano technician

· A keen eye for detail and inspection parameters.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

· Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. 

· Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

· Strong initiative to suggest and implement manufacturing changes/improvements. 

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office
