Job Description - Quality Lab Lead Days (ID)


Immediate Quality Assurance Associate Opportunity
Quality Lab Lead - Days (5:00am to 1:30pm)
Salary Compensation: $19/hour
$500 Sign on Bonus*


Job Summary:

The Quality Lab Lead, in addition to performing the duties assigned to Quality Control Technicians and Lab Assistants, is also a point of contact for Lab Assistants and QC Technicians. The Lead is responsible for gathering and reporting pertinent information to the QA Manager. This position works with production supervisors to ensure production schedule is running accordingly and following food safety protocol. This position is responsible for ensuring Quality Control Technician and Lab Assistant training is efficient.


Roles and Responsibilities:
 
  • Shift Lead for Quality Control Technicians and Lab Assistants to help troubleshoot issues, coordinate schedules, assist with training needs and report accurate and timely information to management.
  • Perform verification through monitoring of Critical Control Points (CCP’s), Control Points, and Laboratory testing.
  • Maintain clear and legible documentation, provide accurate data entries in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for placing non-conforming products on hold and completing the hold log.
  • Communicate product spec nonconformities to management.
  • Verify completion of Pre-Operation documentation and daily GMP inspections.
  • Ensure the completion of Quality Control Technician and Lab Assistant daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly tasks.
  • Verify CCP documents for completion and accuracy.
  • Scan in documents as needed.
  • Print and verify approved product labels and placards for the production work order.
  • Verify and inspect ingredients and lot traceability on production paperwork.
  • Perform inspections for food safety programs such as sieve, magnet, silo or foreign material.
  • Responsible for clear and accurate shift pass downs.
  • Assist production on production lines as time permits or as needed.
  • Fill in for Lab Assistant or Quality Control Technician roles as needed.
  • Always follow and ensure others are following Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s).
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 
Personal Characteristics:
 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and Word.
  • Detailed analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work in cross functional teams.

Education and Experience:
 
  • High School Diploma or GED required or proven writing and email skills.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the food safety industry with proven people management abilities.

Physical Requirements:
 
  • Must be able to work in a facility that handles allergens including, but not limited to: wheat, soy, egg, and milk.
  • Must be able to perform physical requirements of the position including walking, standing, stooping and climbing.
  • Must be able to lift up 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to work in open environments with exposure to pungent odors and varying climates.
