Quality Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Manager’s primary function is to direct and supervise activities for the Quality Department in a manner that ensures consistent quality standards are met in both production processes and the final product.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Ensure that proper record keeping is being maintained. I.E. – FHWA forms, Application/release times, quality status of trailers, and any other pertinent information that needs documented.

· Manage and maintain audits of critical processes to ensure proper results are achieved.

· Part or Work Instruction team responsible for defining processes and expected results. 

· Work with production engineering, sales engineer and shop supervisors with daily production and quality issues.

· Creating Corrective Action Reports (CAR) as needed on vendor material issues. 

· Keep QC personnel abreast with Corrective Action Reports (CAR) generated from other Fruehauf plants. 

· Review sales order/engineering packages with QC personnel. 

· Work with customers when deemed necessary by the Plant Manager.

· Manage final disposition of plant scrap.

· Integral part of implementation of ISO or other Quality Programs. 

MANAGING OTHERS

This position leads a team of quality inspectors and potentially one clerk. Provides supervision and guidance in the quality process. Ownership of final quality provided to the customer.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

· Must be able to communicate ideas to QC personnel.

· Deal directly with shop floor supervisors and employees. 

· Involved in decision making process impacting completion of trailers. 

WORKING CONDITIONS

· Some travel to vendor facilities

· Spend 90% of time in manufacturing environment, 10% in office.

· Daily staff meetings

· Fast paced environment

· Non climate-controlled environment

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

· High school diploma or GED equivalent.

· 5 years or more of trailer manufacturing experience preferred.

· Continuing education classes are desired.
