General Overview:
The Service Technician supports quality assurance by performing hands-on testing and inspection of returned or serviced automotive components. Operating at the Gemba, this role drives Kaizen through data analysis, defect identification, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to eliminate Muda and improve processes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct electrical, mechanical, and functional testing using calibrated equipment.
- Perform visual inspections and dimensional measurements with precision tools.
- Record and analyze data using SPC tools; maintain ISO/TS 16949-compliant records.
- Submit parts for CMM layout; compile results for Quality Engineer review.
- Manage trial part inventory with full traceability and status updates.
- Conduct audits and inspections to verify conformance at the Gemba.
- Review trial products and update ERP/QMS systems accordingly.
- Draft inspection instructions for Quality Engineer approval.
- Communicate with suppliers/customers regarding quality and warranty issues.
- Support Lean initiatives, CAPA, and continuous improvement efforts.
Desired Experience:
- High school diploma or GED; technical certification preferred.
- 2+ years in quality control or automotive service.
- Proficient in SPC software, GD&T, and blueprint reading.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and maintain required safety certifications.
