Quality Technician

SUMMMARY:   
The primary function of a Quality Technician is to assure that all products produced meet company requirements to established product specifications and adhere to all Federal Regulations.  The Quality Technician must be knowledgeable on all in-process and finished product specifications.  In addition, the Quality Technician must be knowledgeable on the basic principles of HACCP and GMPs and ensure all food safety and quality protocols are followed.  They must also be familiar with the SQF Standard. 

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: 

• Works well with others, fostering a team atmosphere.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area at all times.
• Comply with all GMP requirements.
• Monitor HACCP and GMP compliance throughout the plant.
• Participate in Food Safety and GMP audits.
• Perform calibration/verification of all quality related equipment and instruments.
• Perform tailings inspections of flour and sugar silos.
• Perform incident investigations related to withheld product and CCP deviations.
• Assist the Quality Supervisor in performing mock recalls and product recalls.
• Responsible for placing questionable product on hold and executing product disposition.
• Responsible for assuring proper packaging materials are in use on the production floor.
• Responsible for performing inspections of raw materials.
• Assist the Quality Supervisor with document revisions and maintaining the document control database.
• Assist the Quality Supervisor with verification and closure of audit corrective actions and maintaining the corrective action database.
• Assist the Quality Supervisor with data entry of key attributes for icon products to assure maintenance of product specifications.
• Assist with site audits of external suppliers.
• Assist the Quality Supervisor with investigations of consumer and customer complaints regarding food safety and quality.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Ability to read and record written instructions.
• Perform SPC (computer) data entry according to established process control procedures and product specifications.
• Ability to work independently.
• Notify Supervision of any issues.
• Must adhere/comply with all Company policies, procedures and practices.
• All other duties as assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITY 
A Quality Technician will be accountable to the Quality Supervisor for fulfillment of his or her duties.  The performance of a Quality Technician will be measured to the degree of his or her production levels and quality of work performed in these assigned areas. 
EXPERIENCE 
Knowledge of computer systems, some auditing experience, and some laboratory skills ideal but not required. 
EDUCATION 
High school or equivalent.
