Job Description - Rack Build Factory Technician

WHAT YOU WILL DO: 


 As a Rack Factory Technician, you will support the Project Management and Network Engineering teams to deliver best-in-class service in the assembly of customer server racks within a clean-room lab environment. You will play a key role in ensuring quality, precision, and adherence to industry standards. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 



  • Install network hardware, components, and cabling.  



  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with network cabling (copper and fiber).  



  • Inspect and test copper and fiber optic lines to ensure compliance with industry standards.  



  • Rack and stack networking hardware within onsite racks according to requirements.  



  • Provide technical support through various communication channels.  



  • Collaborate with network engineers and project managers.  



  • Assist network engineers with network design, implementation, and problem resolution.  



  • Cable racks to meet data center cabling requirements and standards.  



  • Meet quality, productivity, turnaround time, and other performance expectations.  



  • Route cables and fibers in an organized, professional manner to maximize future maintenance and serviceability. 


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: 



  • 2+ years of network deployment experience; CCNA / JNCIA / CompTIA or equivalent preferred.  



  • Strong experience with networking hardware (routers, servers, switches, PDUs, copper and fiber optic cabling).  



  • Hands-on experience with major manufacturers of routers, switches, and wireless equipment.  



  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, written, and oral communication skills.  



  • Ability to read technical network diagrams, schematics, and port maps.  



  • Ability to interpret rack build layouts and bills of materials.  



  • Previous experience in a similar role.  



  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and a desire to build skills in this area.  



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.  



  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.  



  • Ability to diagnose basic technical problems and identify root causes.  



  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.  



  • Previous experience in network engineering deployments for large-scale networks in a corporate environment. 


DESIRABLE CRITERIA: 



  • Experience working in clean-room or controlled lab environments.  



  • Familiarity with data center standards and best practices.  



  • Knowledge of structured cabling systems and labeling standards.  



  • Exposure to automation tools or scripting for network deployments.  



  • Experience with fiber optic testing tools and certification processes.  



  • Understanding of ITIL or similar service management frameworks.  



  • Ability to mentor junior technicians or contribute to process improvements.  



  • Certifications beyond CCNA/JNCIA (e.g., CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or vendor-specific certifications).  



  • Previous experience in global or multi-site network deployments.
