Job Description - Radiation Oncologist

Radiation Oncologist – Community-Focused Cancer Practice

Calaway-Young Cancer Center | Valley View Hospital

Glenwood Springs, Colorado | Serving the Western Slope

Valley View Hospital is seeking a Radiation Oncologist to join our established, multidisciplinary cancer program serving patients across Colorado’s Western Slope — all while living in majestic Glenwood Springs, nestled between Aspen and Vail, where others vacation and you get to call home.

This opportunity is ideal for a physician who values longitudinal patient relationships, multidisciplinary collaboration, and meaningful community impact within an independent, physician-aligned health system. Here, you can build a thoughtful radiation oncology practice focused on access, quality, and continuity — without the constraints of a large academic or corporate structure.

The Opportunity

This role offers a balanced and impactful radiation oncology practice, including:

  • Comprehensive consultation, treatment planning, and delivery of radiation therapy

  • Close collaboration with medical oncology, breast surgery, pulmonology, and other surgical specialties

  • Participation in multidisciplinary tumor board and shared clinical decision-making

  • Longitudinal patient management throughout treatment and follow-up

  • Opportunity to contribute to program growth and regional cancer access expansion across the Western Slope

The practice is structured to support coordinated care, efficient scheduling, and sustainable work-life balance while maintaining clinical excellence.

Integrated Multidisciplinary Cancer Care

The Calaway-Young Cancer Center operates within a Commission on Cancer (CoC)–accredited cancer program and provides coordinated, patient-centered oncology services. Care is delivered through a collaborative model including medical oncology, breast surgery, imaging, genetics, nurse navigation, and supportive services.

Radiation oncology plays a central role in this integrated model, with strong administrative support and engaged physician leadership committed to ongoing program development.

Why Valley View Hospital

  • Independent, community-governed hospital with strong physician alignment

  • Established and growing cancer program with committed infrastructure

  • Broad regional referral base serving rural and mountain communities

  • Opportunity to shape service line growth in a nimble, mission-driven organization

  • Competitive compensation with productivity opportunity and comprehensive benefits

  • Culture that prioritizes quality, teamwork, and sustainability

About Glenwood Springs

Glenwood Springs offers an exceptional quality of life in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, including:

  • Immediate access to skiing, hiking, biking, fishing, and world-class hot springs

  • A vibrant downtown with dining, arts, and community events

  • Excellent schools and a welcoming, family-oriented environment

  • Proximity to Aspen, Vail, and surrounding Western Slope communities

  • A rare balance of meaningful professional work and outdoor lifestyle

Qualifications

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Radiation Oncology

  • Eligible for Colorado medical licensure

  • Commitment to patient-centered, community-based care

  • Interest in multidisciplinary collaboration and program development

  • Collegial, team-oriented practice style

This position is well suited for physicians seeking a community-focused radiation oncology practice where quality, continuity, and relationships matter as much as technical excellence.   An excellent candidate for this role will bring strong clinical skills, collaborative practice style, and prior experience in a comparable practice environment.

BENEFITS

  • Medical, Dental and Vision coverage including coverage for eligible dependents

  • Employer paid basic life coverage with buy-up coverage options

  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for health care and dependent care.

  • Time away from work: paid time off (PTO), paid family and medical leave (inclusive of Colorado FAMLI), Paid Sick/Bereavement Leave under Colorado Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), leaves of absence.

  • Tuition Assistance Available

  • Retirement Plan 401(a)

  • Retirement Plan 403(b) plans with employer matching contributions.

  • Employee Assistance Program

  • Employee discount on Valley View Medical Services

  • Employee voluntary benefits such as Discounted RFTA bus passes, discounted gym memberships, Corporate Ski passes, free car seat for new Valley View babies born or adopted by Valley View employee(s)

  • Free Use of Sunlight and Aspen SkiCo day passes, based on availability.

LOAN REPAYMENT

Valley View is a qualifying employer for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program!

APPLICATION SUBMISSION END DATE

This position will be open for a minimum of three days and until a top applicant is identified.
