Job Overview
A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Radiation Oncology Therapist to join its outpatient Radiation Oncology team in Grants Pass, Oregon. This position combines hands-on radiation therapy responsibilities with leadership, staff development, and operational support.
The Radiation Oncology Therapist will provide safe, accurate, and compassionate treatment while helping guide less-experienced team members and supporting the department supervisor. The department treats approximately 30 patients daily and provides advanced radiation therapies, including 3D conformal radiation therapy, IMRT, SBRT, and SRS.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Radiation Therapist who is ready to take on greater clinical and leadership responsibility within a collaborative oncology environment.
Responsibilities
Administer radiation therapy treatments according to physician prescriptions, dosimetry calculations, and established treatment plans
Provide leadership, training, technical guidance, and support to Radiation Therapy staff
Assist the department supervisor with daily operations, workflow coordination, problem-solving, and service improvements
Perform equipment warm-up procedures and required quality-assurance checks on treatment machines and the CT scanner
Accurately position patients using immobilization and positioning devices established during simulation
Work closely with Radiation Oncologists during treatment planning and simulation
Deliver advanced radiation treatments, including 3D, IMRT, SBRT, and SRS
Operate Elekta Infinity radiation therapy equipment, including the Active Breathing Coordinator breath-hold system
Operate the GE Discovery CT system for simulation and treatment-planning procedures
Review patient anatomy, treatment marks, positioning instructions, and treatment parameters before delivering therapy
Document treatment notes, dose delivery, and patient information accurately within the Mosaiq oncology information system
Coordinate daily treatment activities with physicians, residents, nurses, physicists, dosimetrists, and ancillary departments
Monitor patients closely throughout treatment and communicate changes or concerns to the appropriate clinical team
Maintain a compassionate, attentive, and professional bedside manner throughout each patient's course of treatment
Associate degree in Radiation Therapy or a related accredited program
Minimum of three years of experience as a Radiation Therapist
ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy, ARRT(T)
Current Oregon Board of Medical Imaging Radiation Therapy license, or ability to obtain the required license before starting
Current Basic Life Support certification upon hire
Thorough knowledge of radiation oncology theories, procedures, treatment techniques, and equipment
Experience performing equipment quality assurance and treatment-unit warm-up procedures
Ability to work a full-time, 40-hour-per-week schedule
Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and patient-care skills
Ability to work collaboratively with at least one additional Radiation Therapist during treatment operations
Preferred
Previous lead, senior, preceptor, or supervisory experience
Experience with Elekta Infinity treatment equipment
Experience with GE Discovery CT equipment
Experience using Mosaiq
Experience administering 3D, IMRT, SBRT, and SRS treatments
Experience with breath-hold treatment techniques and Active Breathing Coordinator equipment
Previous experience in an outpatient cancer center or hospital-based Radiation Oncology department
