## \nCompany:\n\nQualcomm Technologies, Inc.\n\n## Job Area:\n\nEngineering Group, Engineering Group \u003e Cellular Technologies\n\nGeneral Summary:\n\nThe RF Hardware Engineer is responsible for the architecture, design, integration, validation, and optimization of RF hardware systems and subsystems supporting advanced wireless products and platforms. This role requires deep expertise in RF circuit design, RF system integration, PCB/layout considerations, measurement, characterization, and cross\u2011functional execution across product lifecycles, from concept and feasibility through commercialization.\n\nThe position demands technical leadership, independent problem solving, and close collaboration with system, digital, software, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust, high\u2011performance RF solutions for modern wireless standards and emerging technologies.\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u0027s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.\n\nPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities\n\n * Define RF hardware architectures and specifications derived from system\u2011level requirements, owns significant RF subsystems or end\u2011to\u2011end hardware blocks\n * Design, integrate, and optimize RF hardware circuits and subsystems, makes design tradeoffs impacting performance, cost, schedule, and manufacturability\n * Lead RF bring\u2011up, debug, tuning, and validation activities\n * Perform RF simulations, modeling, and sensitivity analysis\n * Execute and interpret RF measurements:\n * S\u2011parameters\n * Noise figure\n * Linearity\n * Phase noise\n * EVM\n * Spurious and harmonics\n * Resolve complex RF performance and integration issues\n * Drive RF design reviews and contribute to cross\u2011disciplinary technical discussions and work closely with:\n * System engineering\n * Digital and baseband teams\n * Software and algorithm engineers\n * Manufacturing and test\n * Contribute to design documentation, technical reviews, and knowledge sharing\n\n\n\nRequired Fundamental Knowledge\n\n * RF and microwave engineering\n * Analog and mixed\u2011signal circuit design\n * Electromagnetics and transmission lines\n * Wireless communications and RF system theory\n * Semiconductor devices and integrated circuits\n * Signal processing fundamentals\n\n\n\nPreferred Technical Expertise and Skills\n\nRF Hardware Design and Prototyping\n\n * Hands\u2011on experience with PA, LNA, mixers, switches, matching networks, filters, and duplexers across sub\u20116 GHz and/or mmWave bands.\n * Proven ability to translate performance targets into detailed RF circuit implementations, covering schematic design, device selection, biasing, matching, layout considerations, and design tradeoffs impacting gain, noise, linearity, efficiency, and stability.\n * Solid understanding of how component\u2011level design choices affect module\u2011 and product\u2011level performance, including EVM, ACLR, noise figure, output power, efficiency, and thermal behavior.\n\n\n\nSystem-Level Analysis \u0026 Simulation\n\n * Proven experience with full RF system simulations (end\u2011to\u2011end TX/RX chain), including cascaded nonlinear effects, impairments, and KPI evaluation.\n\n\n * Proficiency using system simulation tools (e.g., SystemVue/MATLAB class environments) to evaluate waveform\u2013PA\u2013DPD interactions and performance envelopes.\n\n\n\nStandards \u0026 Waveforms\n\n * Working knowledge of OFDM\u2011based waveforms (e.g., 5G NR) and their spectral/linearity implications on RF systems.\n\n\n * Familiarity with system performance metrics used in standards and prototyping (ACLR, EVM, PAPR, spectral efficiency).\n\n\n\nCross\u2011Functional \u0026 Leadership Skills\n\n * Ability to work across RFIC, system, digital, and standards teams, supporting RAN contributions and prototype demonstrations.\n\n\n * Technical leadership in problem decomposition, data\u2011driven decision making, and mentoring in complex RF system studies.\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n * Master\u2019s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical \u0026 Computer Engineering, or a closely related field with 3+ years of professional experience in the RF hardware and RF system field, including RF circuit, module, or system\u2011level design, integration, validation, and characterization.\n\n\n\nOR\n\n * Ph.D. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related discipline with 1+ years of professional, internship or post\u2011doctoral experience in RF hardware and RF system design, including hands\u2011on work in RF circuits, RF front\u2011end architectures, or wireless system implementations beyond academic research.\n\n\n\nQualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
