Job Description - Radiologic Technologist II

$2500 SIGN-ON BONUS!!!

Job Summary:


The Radiologic Technologist II performs advanced diagnostic x-ray and CT imaging procedures with minimal supervision, supporting both surgical and inpatient services. The technologist ensures image quality, adheres to safety protocols, and assists with more complex cases, including intraoperative imaging. Additionally, they may contribute to maintaining equipment, supplies, and workflow efficiency within the department.


Hours: 



  • .8 FTE - 32 Hours per week

  • 8 hour variable shifts

  • Call rotation every 8th weekend 


Essential Job Functions:



  • Advocate for patients’ rights, preferences, and needs, ensuring that they receive high-quality, compassionate care that is tailored to their individual circumstances



  • Project a professional demeanor and appearance while maintaining the confidentiality of the patient, coworkers, and the organization, as appropriate



  • Independently operate x-ray and/or CT imaging to complete routine and complex exams

  • Capture high-quality diagnostic images while adhering to protocol and adjusting techniques based on patient condition

  • Assist providers and operating room staff with real-time imaging during surgical procedures, including C-arm operation

  • Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures

  • Follow ALARA principles and ensure compliance with all safety standards to protect patients, staff, and self



  • Follow requirements established by the American College of Radiology, U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the State of Wisconsin



  • Prepare and position patients, explain procedures, and ensure comfort and safety throughout the imaging process

  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, and ensure proper functioning of imaging equipment, report malfunctions promptly



  • Accurately record procedure data, patient information, image data and quality notes into EMR and PACS system

  • Prepare and administer contrast agents per protocol and monitor patients for adverse reaction

  • Serves as a resource on assigned modality protocols

  • Collaborate with radiologists, providers, and clinicians to ensure imaging supports diagnostic and procedural needs

  • Conduct routine quality control checks and assist with identifying and resolving technical issues across assigned modalities

  • Provide clear instructions, reassurance, and compassionate care to patients during procedures

  • Prioritize and coordinate imaging tasks based on urgency, modality availability, and surgical schedules

  • Respond to emergency situations using appropriate interventions

  • Report and document any occurrences promptly



  • Monitor and restock imaging supplies and sterile equipment to ensure readiness for procedures



  • Participate in the department’s on-call rotation and respond promptly to call-ins to ensure continuous patient care and surgical support as needed

  • Use the organization's secure messaging platform in accordance with departmental protocols, including timely receipt and responses to communications



  • Perform other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



  • Medical Terminology

  • Knowledge of ALARA principles, shielding techniques, and regulatory standards

  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems

  • Quality assurance and accreditation standards

  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality laws and patient rights

  • Effective English communication in verbal and written format



  • Competent in conscious sedation according to organization policy



  • Quality work including attention to detail and accuracy

  • Carry out organization customer service standards

  • Basic computer proficiency

  • Carry out customer service standards

  • Prioritize tasks effectively through managing workload based on urgency and importance

  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Continuously learn and improve through staying up to date on job specific trends, policies, and new technologies

  • Successfully demonstrate organization-wide performance review competencies


Qualifications:



  • Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.

  • Associate degree in radiologic technology or radiologic sciences from an accredited program required

  • Must possess a Wisconsin Radiographer license

  • Active certification as such below by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required within the applicable assigned modality:

  • BLS certification is required upon hire



  • Two (2) years of experience in the assigned modality (surgical x-ray or CT) in a hospital setting preferred



  • Must possess a cell phone that interfaces with the organization’s secure messaging system
