Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision following established policies and procedures, file, retrieve, maintain

Inpatient, Outpatient and Emergency Room film records and patient identifying information. Process

requests for x-rays and prepares films for dictation by radiologists. Prepare reports for

distribution, and file radiologists report with films in the patient's file jacket. Provide

reports to physicians when requested. Utilize computer stored information perform routine

clerical duties.

Greet patients and visitors, ascertains their needs; direct and/or escort them accordingly.

Retrieve and file all film records as assigned and requested utilizing terminal digit filing within aunit records system.

Verify all films are accounted for and locate missing films and/or patient orders, histories,contrast authorizations, and consents.

Verify patient identifying information in computer and inputs correct information into the computer.Patient Orders, Credits.

Verify patient-identifying information for reports received as transcribed and file in designatedpatient file.

Assemble inpatient and outpatient Radiology Jackets in date anatomy order according to defined jacket order.

Prepare new jackets or retrieve old films and reports from various storage locations (Iron Mountain)and matches with new exams in preparing them for review by the radiologist.

Release information according to closely specified policies and procedures.

Copy films are requested to comply with request from subpoenas, patients and physicians including fax transmittals for all physician requested reports.

Answer telephone and forward information to appropriate departments.

Process requests and reports for distribution to hospital towers, physician offices and patient files.

Maintain and load Radiologist Alternators by knowledge of anatomy and technical views properly.

Generate Department Schedules (CT, NUC MED, DIAG, US, and MAMMO). Assist in scheduling issues when necessary.

Assist in orientation/training of new employees.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:.

Ability to use data processing equipment i.e. P.C.

Interpersonal skills and discretion necessary to tactfully converse with patients and other hospitalpersonnel regarding the release of confidential information.

Ability to perform detailed work accurately.

Demonstrates ability to organize work and perform task independently.

Ability to interact with patients, physicians, and visitors.

Requirements

Education:

High School graduate or equivalent is required. Keyboard proficiency required.

Work Experience:

One-year experience in clinical office setting required.
