LittleStar ABA Therapy works with children, teens, and young adults affected by autism.  Operating as a non-profit organization, we use our resources to ensure quality services to our patients, and to invest in our staff and the autism community. Our clinical leadership consists of experts in the field of ABA, including three PhDs and a world-class advisory board.  We have been improving the lives of individuals with autism for over 20 years!   

Summary 

The Pilot RBT Assistant Clinical Assessor is responsible for the treatment of patients, clinical assessments, and clinical coverage within their designated program.

This position is created as part of a pilot program implemented August 2023 through a date to be determined. The pilot program will be reviewed at a later date for either continuation of pilot, expanding the pilot program or discontinuance of the pilot program. As a pilot program, the essential duties and responsibilities contained in this job description will be subject to change.

There will be an additional $2/hr pay increase to the RBT pay rate.

Condition of Employment

  • Must successfully pass the initial and updated criminal history, background, and record checks, which includes driving history checks
  • Must provide transportation to patients using your personal vehicle and travel to different locations within the surrounding area to provide therapy and must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must provide proof of automobile insurance with a minimum of $100,000 combined in property and medical liability prior to and during employment.
  • Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as provided by LittleStar, where physical distance cannot be attained as needed.
  • Must maintain scorecard measures of a Registered Behavior Technician.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Treatment and Support:

  • Provide excellent patient care during scheduled shifts
  • Meet all requirements of the RBT position as outlined in the RBT job description
  • Provide patient care 50% of the time
  • Conduct treatment and receive supervision from a BCBA
  • Provide substitute coverage during clinical shift as needed (i.e., if you work 8:30-12:30, you will only cover clinical shifts between 8:30-12:30)
  • SOAP note checks (both timely submission and inclusion of required information)
  • General and patient-specific competency assessment checks for scorecard purposes
  • Lead small group treatment
  • Behavioral support (as needed)

Training Support:

  • Follow the RBT competency script with 90% accuracy or above
  • Maintain 90% accuracy with the RBT competency script at all follow-up assessments
  • Conduct RBT initial and renewal competency assessments, which involves conducting the assessment, evaluating if the demonstration meets the criteria for passage, and working with the scheduling department for re-evaluation of missed items
  • Complete the initial and renewal application packet correctly and independently
  • Send completed applications to the training department, Clinical Director, and applicant to ensure seamless progression through the credentialing process
  • Indicate missed items in Formstack for tracking and training purposes
  • Coordinate coverage for initial and renewal comps during absences
  • Provide initial and renewal CDI training to other RBTs within your program, which requires working with scheduling to determine when this can occur, assessing the accuracy of CDI procedures, and maintaining ongoing documentation
  • Delegate assessments to Clinical Director or Training Department as needed based on availability

Break Coverage:

  • Attend to patient toileting needs when necessary
  • Clean interactive areas
  • Create and submit incident reports as necessary.
  • Implement de-escalation strategies as necessary to maintain safety
  • Provide sub coverage when you are not working with your assigned patient for staff who need to complete required trainings (e.g., Relias, CDI)
  • Must be available for coverage that may occur outside of your regularly scheduled clinical shift
  • Oversee breaks for groups of patients
  • Maintain patient safety during break coverage

Other related duties may be assigned by the Clinical Director.

Educational Qualifications and Skills

  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) required.
  • Level 5 RBT required; level 6 or 7 preferred.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must demonstrate discretion in matters that must remain private.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities but is responsible for reporting assessment findings and SOAP note reviews to the Clinical Director.

Work Environment

Position operates in a clinical environment. This role routinely uses standard office and audiovisual equipment. Position may also operate at offsite locations including a patient’s home, school, or place of employment. This role will be expected to work at multiple sites with multiple patients. This position is not eligible for telecommuting.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This is a physically active position that is required to work with patients of varied activity levels. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk, run, climb stairs, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and implement physical management procedures in response to aggressive or unsafe behavior as needed.

Travel

Some travel may be required for this position. Travel to offsite locations typically does not exceed 20 miles one way.
