Messina Talent is seeking an R&D Test Technician for a direct hire career opportunity in North Kansas City. Our client is a global chemical manufacturer seeking a hands-on technician with a passion for innovation and a knack for problem-solving. In this role, you will play a critical role in our research and development efforts, conducting physical testing and experiments to support the development of cutting-edge products and technologies.
Job Objective:
Technical activities of mechanical and application testing of chemical products. This position works closely with the central research group as well as regional technical service to provide mechanical and application data for customers.
Primary Accountabilities/Functions:
· Process and test of resins and composites.
· Assist with projects regarding composite and resins including product development, trouble shooting and efficiency.
· Creation/writing and organization of technical reports.
· Data entry (Excel) and analysis.
· Presentation of results to team and other groups (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word).
· Personally perform or assist in the maintenance and calibration of testing equipment.
· Responsible for Chemical Hygiene Plan, safety, and housekeeping.
· Lifting and transportation of materials.
Job Requirements
Skills/Qualifications:
· Engineering/applicable technical degree or 5+ years of related experience (physical testing preferred).
o Experience of familiarity with physical tests ran at site.
· Comfortability with material processing - power tools, cutting, sanding, cleanup, etc.
· Mechanical aptitude to maintain and run testing and application equipment.
· Initiative and results-orientation.
· Good lab techniques.
· Discipline and integrity to record data with balance between detail and conciseness.
· Good oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to thrive in a team environment.
· Willing and able to shift between a hands-on doer and a project leader, depending upon needs.
· Working knowledge of algebraic math and statistics.
· Ability to lift 50 lbs.
· Desired:
o Knowledge of testing and preparation methods for composites and resins (ASTM and ISO methods).
o Knowledge of CNC operation.
o Knowledge of application processes employed for the manufacture of parts and coatings.
o Knowledge of basic resin and composite chemistry.
