The RDTC Project Manager (PM) brings strong theoretical and practical knowledge of the biological sciences to manage complex, cross-functional projects that support RDTC programs. Working closely with Study Directors and collaborators, the PM defines project scope, goals, timelines, and deliverables, and is accountable for project coordination, execution, and completion. This role requires a solid understanding of operational processes, service deliverables, and available resources, along with strong communication skills and proficiency with project tracking tools.
The Rare Disease Translational Center supports the mission of The Jackson Laboratory: to discover precise genomic solutions for disease and empower the global biomedical community to improve human health. The RDTC partners with foundations and teams of basic and clinical researchers to generate custom mouse models with clinically relevant mutations and advance therapeutic development for rare diseases.
Acting as the primary owner of project execution, the PM works largely independently while collaborating closely with operations daily to ensure projects remain on track and resources are used responsibly. The PM oversees complex projects, proactively identifies risks or deviations from agreed-upon timelines, scope, or deliverables, and escalates critical issues to the Study Director as needed. The role requires active, hands-on engagement with studies, including direct experimental and animal work in support of project execution.
