Now Hiring a Hill Reading Tutor at Kerr-Vance Academy

Hill Tutoring is seeking a compassionate and skilled reading tutor to teach reading classes at Kerr-Vance Academy, located at 700 Vance Academy Road, Henderson, NC 27537 (Vance County). This is a great opportunity to support students with reading instruction in a 4:1 setting that builds core academic skills and confidence through Hill’s research-based, Orton-Gillingham-inspired methodology.

We are specifically seeking a licensed educator who is available to tutor Monday–Thursday between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., on the Kerr-Vance Academy campus (700 Vance Academy Road, Henderson, NC 27537).

Hill Tutoring provides:


  • Reliable, consistent tutoring schedule

  • Training in Hill’s evidence-based teaching methods

  • All materials and supplies provided

  • Mentorship and collaboration with a mission-driven educational team

  • Administrative team handles scheduling, billing, and parent communication

  • Starting pay of $55/hour

Ideal Candidates Will Have:


  • Experience teaching or tutoring elementary and middle school-aged students
  • Current North Carolina licensed educator

  • Familiarity with multisensory and student-centered instruction

  • A flexible, professional, and collaborative approach

  • A desire to make a positive impact within a school community

This is a rewarding opportunity for educators who want to work closely with students in a supportive, hands-on environment. Additional tutoring hours may be available, either virtually or with other Henderson-based students, depending on interest and availability.

Founded in 1977, Hill Learning Center is a hub for equitable and
differentiated, research-based practices for supporting students with
learning differences and attention challenges. Through a range of K-12
student and educator programs, and strategic partnerships with leaders
