Duties/Responsibilities:
- Receiving & Inspection:
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments of meat, packaging materials, ingredients, and other supplies.
- Verify quantity and quality against purchase orders, bills of lading, and company specifications.
- Check for temperature compliance on perishable items using calibrated thermometers.
- Document damages, discrepancies, or quality concerns and escalate to Quality Assurance or Procurement as needed.
- Documentation & Inventory Control:
- Accurately complete all receiving logs, labels, and data entry into inventory management systems.
- Apply appropriate date codes, lot numbers, and internal tracking labels to incoming goods.
- Coordinate with Inventory Control to ensure first-in-first-out (FIFO) practices are upheld.
- Communication & Coordination:
- Communicate with Production, QA, Procurement, and other departments regarding delivery status, material availability, and urgent needs.
- Work closely with drivers, vendors, and carriers to ensure proper unloading procedures.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Follow all USDA, HACCP, GMP, and company food safety policies and protocols.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized receiving docks and storage areas.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Familiarity with food safety standards, including HACCP and GMP.
- Ability to work in refrigerated environments (30°F to 40°F).
- Forklift certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1–2 years of experience in shipping/receiving, preferably in a food manufacturing or cold storage environment.
- Experience with ERP systems and inventory management software a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Stand, bend, stoop, and walk for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in cold environments and around raw meat products
