Who We Are

Korman Signs has been part of the Richmond community since 1975, growing from a small start-up into one of the nation's leading manufacturers of traffic safety products. For more than 50 years, we've built our reputation on quality, innovation, and integrity---values that continue to guide us today. Still family-operated, Korman Signs combines state-of-the-art technology with hands-on expertise to deliver everything from small custom signs to large-scale interstate projects. As an employer, we offer the stability of a long-established company with the team-oriented culture of a family business, where every role contributes to our shared success.

The Role

We're seeking a Receiving and Inventory Clerk who is reliable, detail-oriented, and physically capable for this hands-on warehouse position. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing all incoming shipments, verifying deliveries, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring proper storage of materials. You'll work closely with purchasing, production, and shipping teams to keep our operations running smoothly. This position requires someone who can handle heavy loads, operate forklifts safely, and maintain organized storage systems. If you take pride in accuracy, thrive in an active work environment, and understand that attention to detail keeps our entire operation on track, you'll fit in well here.

Key Responsibilities

Shipping and Receiving Operations

  • Receive and verify all incoming truck shipments and small package deliveries against carrier delivery receipts and packing lists.

  • Count pallets, handling units, and items per pallet; inspect all shipments for damage or discrepancies.

  • Document shortages, damage, or discrepancies on delivery receipts and obtain exception numbers from carriers.

  • Photograph damaged shipments in the presence of delivery drivers; coordinate with Purchasing on damaged shipment refusals.

  • Verify package contents against packing lists and purchase orders to ensure accuracy.

  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.

Inventory Management and Data Entry

  • Print and apply receiving labels without obscuring package information.

  • Enter receipt quantities, carrier information, and freight costs into ERP software (Global Shop Solutions).

  • Process receiving reports, attaching required documentation (packing lists, delivery receipts, certifications), and note any discrepancies.

  • Conduct cycle counts when requested to maintain inventory accuracy.

  • Tag items to sales orders, jobs, or stock locations and deliver to appropriate departments.

  • Count parts and inventory; adjust inventory records as required to maintain accuracy.

Warehouse Organization and Material Handling

  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and competently.

  • Manage and organize racks, shelving, drawers, and storage areas for manufactured and wholesale products.

  • Ensure proper rotation of stock (old stock in prime picking locations) for both manufactured products and resale items.

  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and aisles; participate in general housekeeping.

  • Store materials properly using appropriate carts, storage devices, and material handling techniques.

  • Assist with walk-in customers picking up orders.

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow all safety rules and precautions at all times.

  • Ensure proper storage of materials and safe stacking practices.

  • Immediately report any accidents or safety concerns to supervisor.

  • Maintain production output standards while prioritizing safe work practices.

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 1--3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations preferred.

  • Forklift certification required or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.

  • Demonstrated mathematical aptitude and competency to perform inventory calculations.

  • Proficiency with basic computer applications.

  • Strong attention to detail with ability to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate records.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy loads, skids, and containers (up to 50 lbs. regularly; heavier with assistance).

  • Ability to work scheduled hours and maintain consistent attendance.

  • Strong work ethic with a collaborative team-player attitude.

  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with purchasing, production, and shipping teams.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.

  • Capability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.

  • Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor warehouse environments.

  • Able to work in varying temperatures and weather conditions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

  • Comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, and life insurance.

  • Paid time off and recognized holidays.

  • Retirement plan with employer contributions.

  • Bonus program.
