Job Purpose:

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada Receiving Coordinator is responsible for managing the receipt, inspection, and proper storage of incoming food donations and inventory. They ensure efficient warehouse operations and compliance with safety and sanitation guidelines to support the organization's food distribution efforts.


Requirements

Special Conditions or Certifications of Employment:

  • Valid Nevada driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Pre-employment Background Check Required
  • Pre-employment Drug Screen Required

Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Inventory Control
  • Forklift Certified
  • Food Safety Certified

Job Purpose:

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada Receiving Coordinator is responsible for managing the receipt, inspection, and proper storage of incoming food donations and inventory. They ensure efficient warehouse operations and compliance with safety and sanitation guidelines to support the organization's food distribution efforts.

Essential Functions, Include, But Are Not Limited to:

  • Responsible for scheduling and receiving all inbound deliveries, including, but not limited to, donated, purchased, and USDA loads.
  • Inspect, verify, and document all deliveries to Food Bank and/ or USDA standards.
  • Develop a well-rounded knowledge of the Food Bank systems, including CERES (inventory management system), the USDA portal, MealConnect, etc.
  • Manage item, donor, and vendor creation in CERES.
  • Build knowledge of Food Bank inventory practices.
  • Assist inventory staff in daily, weekly, and monthly inventories.
  • Help Staging Tech with food flow.
  • Participate in the warehouse preparation for inspection and reviews, such as USDA and AIB audits.
  • Participate in the warehouse preparation for the annual inventory audit.
  • Become proficient in using warehouse equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, riding jacks, electric pallet jacks, and scissor lifts.
  • Assist Warehouse staff when needed.
  • Be an active member of one or more Food Bank Committees.
  • Cross-train with Shipping Coordinator
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

· Experience with ERP’s (Inventory Systems) in a warehouse environment.

· Skills and practical knowledge of inventory practices.

· Strong writing and speaking skills

· Must be responsive, accountable, and detail-oriented with problem-solving skills.

· Proactive and self-starter attitude – the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong team member

· Demonstrated track record in managing tasks and/or small projects

· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on or with multiple Food Bank teams.

· Intermediate to advanced skills in using Microsoft Professional Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Internet search engines and databases. Willingness to be Food Safety Certified in first 90 days.

Travel:
Local travel to various events may be required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Regular work days and hours are Monday through Friday. However, the schedule may vary when the program schedule adjusts or other special events arise.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The employee regularly works with equipment in a warehouse setting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods, walk, stand, talk, and hear. The employee is able to lift 60 pounds. Repetitive squatting, bending, balancing, crouching, stooping, lifting, and twisting are required.
  • Work in refrigerated units at temperatures below 30 degrees and as low as -5 degrees.
  • Knowledge and prior application of safe work practices and an attitude of safety awareness.
  • Ability to learn the proper use of various pieces of warehouse equipment.
