Summary 


Edsal Manufacturing is North America's leading designer, manufacturer, and distributor of high-quality steel shelving and cabinets for garage, basement, storage, and commercial applications. Receiving Materials Operator

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 5:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Edsal Manufacturing designs, manufactures, and distributes steel shelving and cabinets. We have operating sites in Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and California.

Summary

Receive, verify, and store incoming steel and other materials. Maintain accurate records and supply steel to production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Unload steel and check shipments against bills of lading. Report damage or discrepancies.

  • Receive materials in Factory Track, print labels, and store steel in the correct location.

  • Test beam and post coils for hardness and thickness and record results.

  • Record skid weights and assist with monthly inventory.

  • Deliver coils to production and assist with hanging coils.

  • Weigh and empty scrap hoppers, manage trash and scrap materials, and complete required paperwork.

  • Keep the receiving area and steel room clean and organized.


Qualifications

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent education and experience. At least five years of forklift operating experience is required. Must be able to follow instructions, use basic math and measurements, maintain accurate records, and follow safety procedures.

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

 

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Personal Protective Equipment may be required when working in designated areas.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate.  Mostly an office environment, but on occasion, may be required to travel to other sites that are not office environments. In a plant or warehouse environment where temperatures may vary, and noise levels are high. Personal Protective Equipment is required i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, protective gloves.
