RECEPTIONIST

Primary Duties: Check-in patients upon arrival; schedule follow-up appointments; verify and update demographic information; collect copays; inform nursing staff of patient arrivals; coordinate walk-in patients; other duties as assigned to facilitate operations of the clinic.

Secondary Duties: Schedule appointments during peak phone hours; cover other front desk and medical records duties as needed.

This position will be cross-trained to cover all positions in the front office, as well as medical records, and will float to area most needed. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.  Good attendance is a high priority.  

Special Skills Needed: Employees working in the check-in area must possess the following skills: 

1. The ability to collect payments (cash, checks, and credit cards) and issue receipts in a consistent and professional manner.

2. The ability to handle multiple requests in an organized and professional manner.

3. The ability to access electronic health record and maintain accuracy of records.

4. The ability to answer a multi-line telephone system, transfer calls, and retrieve voice mail.

5. The ability to use appointment scheduling and registration software.

6. The ability to meet customer service expectations in a friendly, professional manner.

7. Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations.

Physical Requirements: Employees working in the check-in area must demonstrate the following physical abilities:

1. The ability to tolerate extensive time seated at a computer and on the phone.

2. The ability to speak and hear clearly on the telephone.

3. The ability to sit at a computer and clearly visualize the screen.
