Job Description:

We are seeking a highly organized, friendly, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Urgent Care Receptionist with Medical Assisting duties. In this dual role, you will serve as the first point of contact for our patients, ensuring they receive a welcoming, efficient, and professional experience at our urgent care facility. Additionally, you will assist our healthcare providers with clinical tasks, contributing to the smooth operation of the facility and providing high-quality care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Receptionist Duties:

  • Greet patients and visitors with a professional and compassionate demeanor.
  • Manage patient check-ins, verify insurance, and obtain necessary documentation.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow, ensuring minimal wait times.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining patient records, ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Process patient billing, co-pays, and payments as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk and waiting area.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and confidentiality guidelines (HIPAA).

Medical Assisting Duties:

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient exams and procedures.
  • Take vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring they are fully stocked and clean.
  • Collect and process patient specimens (e.g., urine, blood) as directed.
  • Administer injections and immunizations under the direction of the healthcare provider.
  • Assist with patient education on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Perform basic lab tests (e.g., strep throat, urine dipstick) as required.
  • Help with patient charting and documentation using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of medical equipment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional medical office or medical assisting certifications preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in a medical office or urgent care setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, basic procedures, and clinical skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations with patience and professionalism.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using office equipment and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to work well in a team and adapt to changing responsibilities.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods and assist patients as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Comfortable with the use of medical equipment and assisting with patient procedures.
