Society Insurance is seeking a

Recovery Manager

to join our Claims team.

This position will be responsible for the management, growth, development, and supervision of subrogation, special investigations, and deductible recovery programs.

About the Role
Focuses on data collection to identify subrogation potential and collaboration within claims to identify recovery opportunities and minimize missed opportunities.
Maintains an enterprise view of the team’s operations to allow for cross functional communication of trends to improve company’s profitability.
Develops and maintains special investigation unit recovery programs and monitors state and department results throughout the year - adjusting strategy as needed.
Resolves subrogation claims by conducting additional investigation and comparing claim information with evidence to determine if subrogation potential exists.
Identifies qualified subrogation and SIU experts, vendors, and legal counsel as claims dictate with a clear focus on expense management.

Establishes and maintains vendor relationship.
Supervises vendors handling subrogation and SIU losses on Society’s behalf. This includes but is not limited to building relationships with vendors and insureds, vendor selection, and the vendor’s ability to build relationships with the claimants.
Develops and maintains a cost/benefit analysis and dashboard for servicing out complex subrogation and SIU losses.
Coordinates bi-yearly close-file audits with outside vendor in identifying subrogation potential.
Develops salvage and evidence retention program including identification of vendors, development of vendor and the chain of custody documentation to reduce spoliation of evidence exposure.
Develops and works closely with those staff assisting in subrogation by coaching, mentoring, and providing training to staff employees in the area of subrogation investigation and collection.
Manages file load composed of higher exposure and highly complex subrogation claims and ensures proper distribution of work within the recovery unit and SIU operations.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending continuing education classes and courses.

What it Will Take
Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field and 5+ years of multi-line experience handling complex claims

OR

7+ years of claims handling experience with discretionary decision-making and increasing levels of claims severity, with 5 of those years having exposure in handling recoveries (i.e. subrogation, salvage, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to interpret multi-statues, common law, and insurance law.
Ability to obtain and maintain proper licensing prior to handling a state that requires it.
Fluency with laws and procedures of at least one of the states which Society Insurance writes in.
Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
Proficiency with Microsoft Applications including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
Familiarity with estimating software highly desirable.
Professional designations of AIC, ARM, CIC, CPCU, or equivalent coursework highly desirable.
Prior supervisory experience within subrogation, SIU, and salvage highly desirable.
