Job Description - Recovery Transportation Coordinator

Join GAAMHA as a Recovery Transportation Coordinator (RTC)

Location: Alyssa’s Place Peer Recovery Support Center – Gardner, MA

Are you passionate about breaking down barriers to recovery in underserved communities? GAAMHA is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven Recovery Transportation Coordinator (RTC) to lead our new Recovery Support Transportation (RST) Program—serving members of BSAS-funded Peer Recovery Support Centers (PRSCs) across North Central Massachusetts.

In this pivotal role, you’ll build and oversee a transportation service that’s more than just getting from point A to point B—it’s about helping people in recovery access the care, support, and connections they need to thrive. If you're ready to transform lives through innovative, recovery-focused support, this is your opportunity.

Why This Program Matters

Rural communities like ours face big challenges: limited public transportation, few treatment centers, and too many people falling through the cracks simply because they can’t get where they need to go. That’s where you and the RST Program come in.

At GAAMHA, we’re launching a transportation program that’s designed to meet people where they are—literally and emotionally. The RST Program will offer safe, consistent, and trauma-informed transportation to recovery services like MAT clinics, therapy sessions, sober housing, harm reduction sites, and peer support centers. Every ride will be a step toward stability, connection, and long-term recovery.

Your Role: A Builder & Leader

As RTC, you’ll lead the daily operations of the RST Program—from scheduling and dispatch to supervising drivers and coordinating with regional PRSCs. You’ll develop transportation plans that support each person’s unique recovery pathway, whether that includes MAT, abstinence-based programs, harm reduction, or a mix of services.

What You’ll Do

  • Design & Oversee Transportation Services: Schedule daily and on-demand rides, making sure everyone gets to where they need to go—on time, safely, and with dignity.

  • Lead a Team of Peer Support Drivers: Hire, train, and supervise staff trained in recovery coaching, trauma-informed care, and de-escalation techniques.

  • Coordinate with PRSCs & Providers: Work closely with local recovery centers, detox programs, and clinical services to ensure smooth ride coordination and strong community partnerships.

  • Support a Range of Recovery Pathways: Provide transportation for individuals using MAT, engaging in harm reduction, attending therapy, entering sober housing, or just getting to their next step.

  • Respond to Critical Needs: Be ready to coordinate off-hour rides to detox or urgent care. You’ll help people access help when they need it most.

  • Ensure Safety & Compliance: Track vehicle maintenance, oversee driver training, and implement emergency protocols that keep staff and passengers safe.

  • Track, Document & Improve: Maintain records, monitor outcomes, and help refine the program based on participant feedback and evolving needs.

What You Bring to the Role

  • Leadership & Logistics Experience: You’ve coordinated teams, schedules, and services before—preferably in transportation, healthcare, or human services.

  • A Passion for Recovery: Whether you’ve worked in recovery services or have personal experience, you understand the importance of connection, consistency, and support.

  • Strong Communication & Tech Skills: You’re organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable with Microsoft Office and online systems.

  • Valid Driver’s License & Reliable Transportation: Required for occasional travel or backup driving.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish? That’s a big plus, but not required.

  • Background Clearance: You’ll need to pass a CORI check, fingerprinting, and other state-required screenings.

What You Can Expect

A Career That Makes a Difference: You’ll be helping people in recovery access the care and connection they need to rebuild their lives.

A Supportive, Mission-Driven Team: Join GAAMHA’s compassionate, community-centered staff who are here to uplift—not judge.

Room to Grow: This is a new program, and you’ll have the opportunity to help shape it from the ground up.

Ready to Get People Moving Toward Recovery?

If you're ready to lead a program that eliminates barriers and creates new possibilities, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and help drive change in North Central Massachusetts.
