Recreational Gymnastics and Tumbling Coach

 Locations: Mansfield YMCA, South Arlington YMCA, and TCF YMCA (Central Arlington)
Schedule: Weekday evenings and Saturdays during the school year; mornings and/or evenings during the summer

Position Summary

The Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is looking for several enthusiastic coaches to join our recreational gymnastics and tumbling team. Our classes serve children ages 18 months to 12 years and help them build strength, coordination, confidence, and new skills in a fun, supportive environment.

We’re looking for coaches with gymnastics or tumbling experience who can lead safe, engaging classes for beginner and intermediate athletes. You’ll use age-appropriate drills and skill progressions to help children grow, whether they’re learning a forward roll or working toward a back handspring.

What You’ll Do

• Plan and lead recreational gymnastics and tumbling classes suited to each group’s age and ability. 
• Teach skills on floor, beam, and bars as appropriate to the class. 
• Demonstrate techniques, provide clear instructions, and use safe spotting practices. 
• Encourage athletes, celebrate their progress, and give constructive feedback. 
• Check equipment and keep class spaces clean, organized, and safe. 
• Communicate with families about class updates and athlete progress. 

 Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old. 
• Previous gymnastics coaching experience required; tumbling coaching experience is strongly needed. 
• Strong understanding of tumbling technique, skill progressions, and safety. 
• Ability to adapt instruction for different ages and skill levels. 
• Strong communication skills and a positive, encouraging coaching style. 
• Availability to work evenings and weekends. 

Physical Requirements

Coaches regularly stand while teaching, move mats and other equipment, and demonstrate skills as needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions of the role.
