Recreational Therapist - Crescent City, CA

Position: Recreational Therapist
Location: Correctional Facility in Crescent City, California
Pay Rate: $61.00 to $63.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 6 to 9-month contract (eligible for extension)

Requirements

• Minimum of 12 months of continuous direct patient care experience within the last 3 years in a public or private facility
• Up-to-date clinical competencies
• Valid government-issued photo ID (Drivers License or Passport)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• National or California-issued Recreational Therapist Certification

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate patient status changes to the Director of Recreational Therapy and the interdisciplinary care team
• Provide timely and relevant feedback regarding patient treatment responses and therapy goals
• Assess psychosocial, leisure, and recreation skill levels and deficiencies
• Ensure all documentation is completed in alignment with each patients plan of care
• Educate patients on stress management and coping techniques to promote healthy, balanced lifestyles
• Utilize counseling and therapeutic methods to support psychiatric, trauma-related, and substance use disorder cases
• Facilitate group therapy with a focus on therapeutic group process and dynamics
