Recreational Therapist - Delano, CA

Position: Recreational Therapist
Location: Correctional Facility in Delano, California
Pay Rate: $61.00 to $63.00 per hour
Schedule: Part-time, 6 to 9-month contract (eligible for extension)

Requirements

• Minimum of 12 continuous months of direct patient care experience within the past 3 years in a public or private facility
• Up-to-date clinical competencies
• Valid government-issued photo ID (Drivers License or Passport)
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• National or California-issued Recreational Therapist Certification

Key Responsibilities

• Notify the Director of Recreational Therapy and interdisciplinary team of any changes in patient condition
• Deliver clear and relevant feedback on patient progress and treatment effectiveness
• Conduct psychosocial and recreational skill assessments
• Complete documentation in a timely manner aligned with each patients plan of care
• Teach patients stress management and coping techniques to promote a healthy lifestyle
• Apply therapeutic methods for patients with psychiatric, trauma-related, or substance use conditions
• Lead and facilitate group therapy sessions with a strong understanding of group dynamics
