Recreational Therapist - Ione, CA

Position: Recreational Therapist
Location: Correctional Facility in Ione, California
Pay Rate: $61.00 to $63.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 6 to 9-month contract (eligible for extension)

Requirements

• At least 12 months of continuous experience in direct patient care within the past 3 years in a public or private institution
• Current clinical competencies
• Valid photo ID (Drivers License or Passport)
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• National or California Recreational Therapist Certification

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate any changes in patient condition to the Director of Recreational Therapy and interdisciplinary team
• Provide feedback to the treatment team on patient responses, interventions, and therapeutic goals
• Assess patients psychosocial, leisure, and recreation skill levels
• Document interventions in alignment with patient care plans
• Teach stress management and coping strategies to support a balanced lifestyle
• Apply therapeutic methods to treat psychiatric, trauma-affected, and chemically dependent patients
• Lead therapeutic group sessions using a strong understanding of group dynamics
