Annual Salary: $54,080 - $60,320 ($26.00 to $29.00 per hour)

This is a non-exempt position. Applicants must pass a background check.

Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Job Summary

Northwest Asthma and Allergy Center is looking for a Referral Coordinator to be responsible for managing patient referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers. This role ensures that referrals are processed accurately and efficiently, providing patients with timely access to the care they need. The Referral Coordinator works closely with physicians, insurance companies, and other medical offices to streamline the referral process and maintain comprehensive records.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Works as a part of the call center.
• Responsible for the tracking, coordination and communication of patient referrals.
• Ensures complete and accurate patient registration, including demographics and current insurance information.
• Handles requests from third party referral sources and provides relevant information and data.
• Serves as point person for multidisciplinary evaluation process to include patient scheduling, third party communications, and internal communications.
• Assembles information concerning patient's clinical background and referral needs.
• Contacts insurance companies to ensure verification of benefits and prior authorization approval requirements are met.
• Reviews details and expectation of referral with the potential patient.
• Assists patients in problem solving potential issues related to financial or social barriers (e.g., request interpreters as appropriate, transportation services, etc.)
• Ensures that referrals are addressed in a timely manner.
• Schedules and Reminds patients of scheduled appointment.
• Communication with referral sources to ensure patient information and registration is complete.
• Communicates patient updates between treatment and referring source.
• Assists in answering incoming new pt calls.
• Works within Klara and EMR answering service app to answer referral related questions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 2 years of medical office experience.
• Experience processing patient referrals in a healthcare setting or medical office.
• Exceptional customer, patient service, and interpersonal skills.
• Clear and effective communication in a positive manner, attention to detail, spelling and grammar.
• Knowledge of computer and phone systems.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR).
