Referral Coordinator

As Referral Coordinator, you will support both direct and indirect patient care, serving as a key liaison between patients, families, staff, and providers—scheduling ancillary services, verifying orders, coordinating authorizations, and ensuring all paperwork and equipment are in place for procedures. You’ll play a vital part in upholding hospital policies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Schedules and confirms patient diagnostic appointments, surgeries, ancillary services, and other medical consultations.
• Obtains prior authorizations and completes paperwork for ancillary diagnostic appointments.
• Answers telephones and directs calls to appropriate staff. Answers telephone according to the WMH standards of behavior and communicates information to the appropriate personnel/family.
• Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
• Treats patients, families, and staff with respect and dignity.
• Communicates appropriately and clearly with supervisor, co-workers and physicians.

• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Maintains current CNA licensure in the state of Idaho or current Registered or Certified Medical Assistant
• Current BLS Certification.
• Ability to use sound judgment and cope with potentially stressful situations
• Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards of performance improvement and organizational values (e.g., efficiency & financial responsibility, safety, partnership & service, teamwork, compassion, integrity, and trust & respect).
• Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with principles for service excellence.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge.
