Location: Puyallup Tribal Health Authority | Tacoma, WA | On-Site

Schedule: Full-Time | Mon – Fri, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Hiring Range: $24.50 - $32.53 per hour

Position Close Date: June 6, 2025

The Puyallup Tribal Health Authority (PTHA) is seeking a Referral Services Lead to help guide and support a team dedicated to connecting patients with the care they need – with excellence, compassion, and efficiency.

This role isn’t just about processing referrals – it’s about leadership, cultural respect, and ensuring every patient gets timely, seamless access to quality care.

What You’ll Do:

As the Referral Services Lead, you’ll wear a variety of hats – including those or problem-solver, mentor, communicator, and detail-oriented administrator. You’ll:

· Coordinate, assign, and oversee daily referral workflows

· Train and guide Referral Service Technicians

· Troubleshoot Electronic Health Record (EHR) issues and support system updates

· Collaborate with patients, providers, and external partners to process and manage medical/dental referrals

· Ensure accuracy in insurance eligibility, pre-authorizations, and funding coordination (including tribal programs)

· Track and document escalated issues, meeting notes, and process improvements

· Support out-of-area tribal members in accessing care and resources

What You Bring:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least (5) years of experience in clinical or dental office settings handling insurance and pre-authorizations
  • Strong working knowledge of medical/dental terminology and coding
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record systems
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
