Referral Specialist I (limited duration)

Northwest Human Services is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and has been a leader in providing advocacy, quality healthcare and social services in Marion and Polk counties since 1970. Referral Specialist I

Location: West Salem Clinic | 1233 Edgewater St NW, Salem, OR 97304

Job Status: Full-Time, Monday – Friday with rotating Saturdays

Limited Duration: (6 months)

YOUR ROLE: Initiate pre-authorization process and facilitate patient referrals.

SPECIFIC DUTIES: 

1. Obtain preauthorization from HMO/insurance companies or other third-party payer for services to be rendered to West Salem Clinic patients at other locations.


2. Schedule appointments and interpreters.


3. Keeps provider informed of the referral process.


4. Responds promptly to calls form patients regarding the referral process.


5. Coordinated and solves problems between patient, specialist's office and HMO/insurance Company.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.


• Must be able to write legibly.


• Proficiency in medical terminology.


• Current knowledge of insurance coverage, pre-authorization and referral process.


• Must be able to deal with the public politely, courteously, efficiently, and effectively in person and by telephone.


• Must be able to remain calm and organized under pressure.


• Ability to communicate and interact with all areas of the clinic and ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making skills.
