Referrals Coordinator

 Our Gastroenterology practice is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our team. This position is responsible for managing all incoming referrals for a group of 11 providers, including both assigned, unassigned referrals, stat, urgent, and ASAP referrals.  

Key Responsibilities 

• Receive, review, and process all incoming referrals from referring providers. 
• Assign referrals to the appropriate physician or manage unassigned referrals as directed. 
• Verify and enter patient information accurately into the electronic medical record (EMR). 
• Coordinate with referring offices, patients, and clinic staff to complete referral requirements. 
• Monitor and track referral progress to ensure timely scheduling and completion. 
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all practice policies regarding patient confidentiality. 
• Provide support to scheduling and clinical teams to optimize patient flow and care. 
• Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and practice management systems for documentation, reporting, and communication. 

• High school diploma or equivalent required  
• Minimum of 1 year of medical office, scheduling, or referral coordination experience (specialty practice experience a plus). 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and medical office software systems. 
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. 
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 

Schedule & Work Environment 

• Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM 
• Office-based position with frequent interaction with providers, patients, and referring offices.
