Refrigeration Technician

Salary: $23.00 to $30.00/hr

Position Summary:

The Custom Refrigeration Technician is responsible for assembling, pressure testing, and evacuating custom refrigeration, pneumatic, altitude and humidity systems used in our environmental test chambers. This role involves interpreting engineering prints and schematics, brazing copper tubing, installing compressors and evaporators, and ensuring all refrigeration systems meet quality and performance specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble refrigeration systems according to custom specifications, work standards, and engineering schematics


• Accurately cut, bend and prepare copper piping.
• Efficiently braze and solder copper piping, brass, and stainless components
• Mount and secure compressors, evaporators, condensers, expansion valves, and other refrigeration components


• Nitrogen pressure test, leak check, and perform evacuations on completed refrigeration, altitude and water systems
• Assemble pneumatic, humidity and altitude systems according to custom specifications, work standards and engineering schematics
• Collaborate with engineering, sales and other production departments to ensure proper system integration and customer requirements are met
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment, work area and tools
• Follow all safety protocols, including handling refrigerants, ladders, lock out tag out, scissor and forklift operation.
• Potential travel opportunities supporting field service with installations

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical school or secondary education focusing in HVACR preferred


• 3+ years of experience in refrigeration system assembly, preferably in a manufacturing or test equipment environment
• General ability to MIG and TIG welding brackets, mounting channels and small fixtures is a plus
• Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and refrigeration schematics


• EPA 608 Certification (Type I & II or Universal) a plus
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods
• Ability to work at heights on ladders, platforms and scissor lifts
• Attention to detail, quality craftsmanship, and ability to work independently or in a team
• Basic computer skills and knowledge


• Familiarity with multi-stage refrigeration systems, cascade systems, and custom HVACR applications is a plus
