Refrigeration Technician

We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician with hands-on experience in industrial ammonia refrigeration systems to join our weekend maintenance team. In this vital role, you will ensure the continuous, efficient operation of freezing and refrigeration systems used in food production and storage. You'll be responsible for system operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting, keeping our equipment running at peak performance and our products at peak freshness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain ammonia and nitrogen refrigeration systems, including screw compressors, vacuum systems, blast freezers, and condensers
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on refrigeration, air conditioning, and chilled water systems
• Read blueprints, manuals, and technical documents to ensure proper operation and repair
• Maintain accurate logs and documentation of maintenance activities
• Inspect systems regularly using visual, auditory, and diagnostic tools
• Order necessary parts and manage maintenance inventory
• Use hand tools and specialized equipment to complete repairs
• Follow all GMP, PPE, and safety protocols to ensure a clean and compliant work environment
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet plant production goals
• Train or assist in training new team members as needed
• Support other maintenance tasks related to electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and pipe-fitting systems

Qualifications:

• Minimum 1-3 years of hands-on experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems
• Knowledge of nitrogen flash freezers and Reco/Frigoscandia systems (preferred)
• Experience with industrial electrical systems (110V to 480V, 3-phase AC)
• Familiarity with pneumatic, hydraulic, and pipe-fitting systems
• Technical training in ammonia/nitrogen freezing systems and mechanical/electrical maintenance
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training a plus
