FLSA Status: Full Time; Non-Exempt

Reports To: Billing Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION –

JOB SUMMARY:

A nonexempt position responsible for performing refund and credit procedures on patient accounts. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Reviews accounts within designated database to determine refund/credit eligibility. 2
• Attaches any required documentation to refunds for finalization.
• Researches and corrects all insurance information and determines the correct recipient for any refunds.
• Documents all correspondence with patients, insurance carriers, and vendors.
• Other responsibilities as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
• Minimum one-year medical billing experience working with credit balances.
• Knowledge of determining credit balances on accounts are patient or insurance
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of HIPPA regulations
• Knowledge of computer systems, programs, and spreadsheet applications.
• Skill in Oral and Written Communication
• Skill in Time Management and organization.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all business/work information. 
• Ability to effectively work with others.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities at the same time.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions 
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
