Job Description - Regional Advocate I

Regional Advocate 

Fulltime Time Equivalency/Exempt: 40 hours per week

Revolving on-call requirement: 24/7/365

Salary Range: $52,000-$62,000

Purpose: The purpose of the Regional Advocate I is to ensure that each victim/survivor that is identified has access to a comprehensive set of victim support services based on their individual needs. Additionally, the Regional Advocate I serves as the primary point of contact with the local community and is the point person on the Outreach Team regarding any and all services to be accessed by victims served by the Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • When on call, leads the 24/7 crisis intervention.
  • Works alongside the Survivor-Mentor to assess the victim’s needs and uses their in-depth knowledge of the services and benefits available, to verify victim’s eligibility for those services/benefits.
  • Coordinates services for immediate health and safety and emergency assistance.
  • Coordinates mental health assistance such as counseling and group treatment.
  • Serves as a professional resource for the victim/survivor and referral agencies to ensure continuity of care.
  • Develops relationships with service providers, law enforcement, governmental agencies, nongovernmental organizations and clinicians and other key stakeholders to assist victims and families with navigating the various systems and services and ensuring that support services are readily available as needed.
  • Provides information to key stakeholders in the region about CSE and sex trafficking to ensure a coordinated, immediate and appropriate response to meet the needs of victims/survivors.
  • Provides or coordinates community awareness activities for regional stakeholders so victims/survivors in the specific region are referred to services where professionals, volunteers and direct service staff know the signs of trafficking and can provide trauma-informed and appropriate services and interventions.
  • Provides skills training to other direct service providers including paid staff and volunteers, so that they are better able to offer quality, trauma-informed care and direct services to victims.
  • Works collaboratively with Clinicians and Survivor-Mentors to ensure that the needs of victims are met through the development of a wellness plan.
  • Completes documentation as required by funding entities, courts and referral sources
  • Other duties as assigned based on programmatic needs.  

Requirements

  •    Minimum of master's degree in relevant area or bachelor's degree in other area and three years of relevant experience
  •    1 to 3 year’s related experience
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience in providing direct care and coordinated services to trauma victims
  • Ability to solve complex, practical problems and effectively deal with complex variables in situations where limited standardization exists
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours and days based on needs of the victims/survivors
  • Team player, flexible and non-judgmental
  • Commitment to vulnerable individuals and families

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to handle documents and to operate personal computer and other office machines. This employee must also be able to hear and speak. This employee must be able to respond quickly to sounds. This employee must have the ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. This employee must have the ability to see and respond to dangerous situations. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
