Job Description - Regional Controller


Columbia Home Services (CHS)  is a private equity-backed platform actively investing in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other trades-related services companies. We are searching for an experienced Regional Financial Controller to lead the finance and accounting function through-out Pa. The right candidate will also have the opportunity to assume larger roles across the growing platform! This position is an in-office position located in Leesport, PA

In this position, you will play a pivotal part in CHS’s growth, reporting directly to the market area leader in Leesport, PA, and the Corporate Controller. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who not only possesses excellent analytical skills and a deep understanding of accounting principles but is also hands-on in their approach. You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports and forecasts, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the regional accounting function, as well as defining and implementing best practices across the operating region.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Leadership and Oversight: Overseeing all regional accounting operations to include financial reporting, AR/AP, payroll, cash management, ledger management, asset management and risk management functions.  
  • Work closely with each business unit’s President and accountant to drive quality processes, execution, and financial planning and reporting.
  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate as a strategic financial thought partner to each operations center President. 
  • Financial Analysis: Continuously analyze essential business drivers, trends, and performance indicators to inform decision-making.
  • Cross-Portfolio Projects: Develop and execute action plans for capturing value across all regional entities (e.g., job costing, standardizing operating procedures, other).
  • Process Improvement: Identify and recommend enhancements to accounting systems and procedures to optimize efficiency and expenditures.
  • Financial Reporting: Deliver accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Audit Oversight: Direct both internal and annual external CPA firm audits to ensure compliance.
  • Month-End and Year-End Close: Take a hands-on approach to driving the month-end and year-end close process, emphasizing strong financial reporting acumen.
  • M&A Support: Participate in due diligence processes and integration planning and execution activities, as required.
  • Internal Controls: Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
  • Company Culture: Shape the company culture by embodying our agreed-upon values, particularly ethics and integrity. Lead 1:1 meetings
Qualifications:
  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated and verifiable experience as a Financial Controller or VP of Finance
  • Financial Analysis: Extensive experience in quantitative and qualitative financial analysis
  • GAAP Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications such as CMA or CPA are preferred but not required.
  • Excel Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Excel, including the ability to create pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, nested “if” statements, and logic formulas are expected.
  • Accounting Software: Hands-on experience with accounting software packages such as Sage Intacct and QuickBooks. Exposure to ServiceTitan is a plus.
  • Work Ethic: A strong work ethic with the ability to balance tasks effectively and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • Ambition: A desire to take on greater responsibilities and actively contribute to the company's growth is preferred in a candidate.

Compensation: We offer competitive compensation commensurate with the requirements of the position, including:
  • Base salary up to $150,000
  • Bonus target of 20% based on company revenue, EBITDA, and role-specific objectives.
