WATG is hiring an Regional Design Technology Manager for our office in Dallas, Los Angeles, or Tustin. This role requires in-person collaboration, with the option to work remotely only on Friday.
ROLE
The Regional Design Technology Manager (RDTM) has high-level experience with production and documentation. The RDTM works alongside others to coordinate, test, and deploy various design technology software and workflow solutions for all disciplines, firmwide, including BIM products, visualization software, AR/VR, AI, and Autodesk products, with a specific focus on Revit + Dynamo, Rhinoceros + Grasshopper, and other related software and plugins typically used in the AEC industry.
The RDTM coordinates and communicates for change management specific to design-technology-related software, which is key to learning our platforms and initiatives. Experience with operational management of cloud-based delivery platforms, environmental analysis, and data repositories is important as an active contributor to our design studios. Works with internal and external developers to create automation and acceleration tools to support our workflows and project delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Partnering with members of the Design Technology and IT teams, the RDTM:
- Contributes to our comprehensive global BIM strategy aligned with organizational goals, considering industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory requirements
- Contributes to developing, implementing, and maintaining global BIM standards, procedures, and workflows for the firm to ensure consistency and quality across projects and teams globally
- Promotes and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration and integration of BIM across departments, stakeholders, and project teams to enhance project delivery and performance
- Guides initial project setup and consultant onboarding processes to ensure best practices and maximum usability of our building information modeling data
- Collaborates with project teams to assist with complex workflows and tasks, including the development of project-specific code and applications
- Contributes to the management of cloud-based delivery platforms and targets training to ensure cloud-based tools are used to their full potential
- Develops content in Revit, Dynamo, and BIM for families, schedules, data, and definitions
- Contributes to WATG's BIM education and training efforts to ensure, leading the effort in the creation of training content for Revit, Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, and related tools to help foster the continuous development of our employees
- Stays current with industry advancements in BIM technology and identifies opportunities to enhance WATG’s BIM capabilities
- Identifies and mitigates potential risks and issues related to BIM implementation, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to develop contingency plans and smooth project execution
- Contributes to the research, development, and implementation of our Revit, Dynamo, Rhino, and Grasshopper design environment, including customizations, development of plugins, design workflows, standards and best practices
- Contributes to the development, communication, and training of model and data-driven design methodologies
- Coordinates the packaging, testing, and deployment of design technology software across the firm, including Autodesk Revit and other products, McNeel Rhino, and a range of related software and plugins
- Communicates and participates in change management for design-technology-related software updates
- Manages cloud-based delivery platforms and data repositories, including working with internal developers to automate processes related to these platforms
- Conducts research on future platforms for design technology and project delivery
- Contributes to the responses and solutions of help desk and service desk tickets
- Develops documentation of global and project design technology standards, libraries, and templates
- Coordinates license renewals
- Participates in staff evaluations and skills assessments related to software and plugins across the company
- Promotes WATG’s reputation for design technology expertise and quality project delivery, including participation in industry events and technical forums
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, computational design or related field
- Successful completion of proficiency tests in the software listed in this job description with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience with each
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, BIM/3D modeling, and visualization tools
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Experience with acceleration, analysis, automation, and customization tools
- Excellent organizational skills
- Persuasive communication skills in a rapidly changing landscape of design and delivery tools
