Job Description - Regional Director of Development-Lowcountry

The Regional Director of Development, Lowcountry – is responsible for developing and executing an annual development strategy that supports the sustainability and advancement of CISSC programming in the Lowcountry Region. Once developed and approved by the SVP, External Affairs, and the Senior Director of Statewide Partnerships, the Regional Development Director will lead revenue management within the region, ensuring that critical goals and benchmarks are met
This is a hybrid position; however, the employee must reside in the Lowcountry, specifically in Charleston, Berkeley, Hampton, or Beaufort, to attend in-person events and training as required.  
 



Roles and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the essential functions listed below. 



Portfolio Management:



  • Manage a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and individual partners to ensure revenue sustainability.

  •  Revenue Expectation: Year 1: $250k by Year 3: 500k - $750K annually (generate new leads and sustain current relationships).

  • Extensive prospect research, relationship development, and relationship stewardship are designed to cultivate longstanding sustainability for the organization.

  • Responsible for identifying when revenue opportunities align with organizational goals and when they do not.



Department Operations: Data management, Donor Acknowledgements, and Receipts:



  • Keeping appropriate documentation required for auditing and partner files, including entering data
    appropriately into the donor management system (Charity Proud) in a timely manner.

  • Providing donors with receipts and acknowledgement of their contributions in a timely manner.

  • Uploading all grant applications, award letters, and critical communication in donor management
    software (Charity Proud).

  • The organization has strong policies and procedures around data management, and this role must be able
    to comply.



Grant Management:



  • Identifying new and maintaining existing grant relationships.

  • Responsible for proactively identifying and driving a particular grant strategy, building intentional and strong relationships with grant managers, and ensuring the grant is executed appropriately.



Events:



  • Manage, from inception to execution, the annual Illuminate Event. Revenue Responsibility: $50k
    annually (regional and state sponsors as well as luminary sales).

  • Support the annual execution of our Regional Partner Appreciation Event in the Upstate market by securing a presenting sponsor or co-sponsors (Goal: $5,000-$10,000).

  • Coordinating 3-5 Program Tours annually in conjunction with the program team.

  • Align with partners willing to host Ask Events annually on behalf of CISSC.



Marketing & Communications:



  • Be a strong internal and external communicator. Identify when additional materials are needed for internal or external communication.

  • Be proficient in organizational messaging at a state and regional level. Work with the Communications team to share spotlights of the work: students, families, schools, site coordinators, alumni, volunteers, and partners.

  • Support the distribution of CISSC marketing and communications materials when applicable. 



Required Education/Experience:



  • BA/BS Degree in marketing, communications, business management, sales, non-profit management, or related field.

  • Minimum 3 years working in fundraising and/or fund development.

  • Built in network in the Lowcountry Region (Charleston, Berkeley, Hampton, and Beaufort).

  • Experience working in a non-profit environment preferred, but not required.

  • Certified Fund Raising Professional (CFRE) preferred, but not required.

  • Valid SC Driver’s License and current Automobile Insurance

  • Ability to appropriately manage, communicate, and work with volunteers, members of the board of directors. and regional committees

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with donor database software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
