Oversee and lead the Veterinary Professional Services(VPS)Operations for assigned region, provide an essential central source and coordination point of technical and business expertise, information and support for the brands and business initiatives, and provide technical strategic insight.  Optimize the utilization of all the technical support data generated at regional and local levels.  Ensure development and continuous improvement of the technical leadership and innovation of Boehringer-Ingelheim Animal Health (BIAH) brands and business.  Represent BIAH and build professional relations within key academic institutions, Specialty Practices, with industry stakeholders, and Key Opinion Leaders in the veterinary profession.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction to Veterinary Professional Services team members to ensure business goals are met, in conjunction with the sales force. Establish annual objectives for PSV team members consistent with sales objectives as well as technical marketing objectives.  Align PSV team with strategic, key and value accounts utilizing appropriate support tools.


• Shape, influence, and contribute significantly to the overall mission of the Veterinary Industry and its influence in the overall care, health, and well-being of animals.


• Ensure that the department is staffed with qualified personnel. Work with Human Resources to recruit and select applicants from a pool of qualified candidates to ensure all allocated positions are filled. Effectively administer salary and reward programs. Coach, develop, motivate and monitor team members' performance, to including the development of actionable department and individual goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct timely Performance Plan reviews. Identify performance challenges, create action plans, and monitor the effectiveness of these action plans.


• Spend appropriate amount of time developing internal and external customers, networks, and relationships to foster Company business. Respond to the needs of the customers in a timely and professional manner. Contribute to the development of the BIAH business plan.


• Serve as an active representative of the VPS in management, sales, marketing, and cross-functional forums to ensure field insights, opportunities, and challenges are effectively communicated and addressed.  Foster strong collaboration across stakeholder groups to support meeting development, enhance field execution, and ensure PSVs (Professional Service Veterinarians) are equipped with the appropriate tools, resources, and guidance to support business objectives.


• Own and lead key VPS initiatives that extend beyond regional team leadership, including ongoing business priorities, operational programs, or customer engagement platforms.  Partner across commercial and technical functions to implement field-focused plans and programs that support business growth, customer value, market share expansion and revenue objectives.

Requirements

• A veterinary degree (DVM or VMD) is required.


• An additional degree (ie. MS, PhD, MBA, etc.) or board certification in a relevant discipline is preferred, but not required.


• A minimum of 12 years in the Animal Health Sector is required, including clinical practice and minimum of 8 years across multiple roles withing the Commercial Animal Health Industry (e.g., pharmaceuticals, nutrition, diagnostics etc.)


• Marketing/Technical Marketing and/or Professional Veterinary Services/Sales experience preferred


• People leadership experience preferred


• Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state in the United States.
  Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook and database applications.


• Technically sound in areas linked to BIAH products and concepts is required


• Proven successful public speaking and presentation skills are required.  


• Must work effectively with intermittent supervision. 


• Solid interpersonal skills and group communication skills are required.


• Ability to travel (will include overnight travel).


• Valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.  


• Authorization and ability to drive a Company leased vehicle or authorized rental vehicle.


• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and database applications.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.


• Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)


• Must be 18 years of age or older
