Position Summary

The Fleet & Equipment Maintenance Manager will oversee all aspects of truck and trailer maintenance for BBI Transportation in the Ohio, Georgia and Florida region. This individual will be responsible for ensuring equipment is safe, compliant, and cost-effectively maintained. Key responsibilities include inspecting equipment, managing preventative maintenance schedules, coordinating repairs, and building strong relationships with repair vendors to reduce costs. This role directly impacts BBI’s safety scores and overall operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of trucks and trailers to ensure compliance with DOT and company safety standards. This will include travel to our Ohio, Georgia and Florida yards.
• Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
• Coordinate repairs with internal staff and third-party repair shops, negotiating favorable rates and turnaround times.
• Monitor and track maintenance records, repair history, warranties, and compliance documentation.
• Partner with safety and operations teams to address and reduce equipment-related infractions affecting safety scores.
• Manage parts inventory and approve purchase orders with a focus on cost control.
• Identify recurring maintenance issues and implement solutions to improve reliability.
• Establish vendor relationships and oversee service contracts to ensure accountability and performance.
• Provide regular reporting on equipment health, maintenance costs, and compliance status to leadership.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in fleet or equipment maintenance, preferably in the transportation or trucking industry.
• Strong knowledge of truck and trailer systems, DOT requirements, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Proven ability to negotiate with vendors and manage repair budgets.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills across teams and external partners.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications (ASE, DOT safety, diesel tech) strongly preferred.
• Supervisory experience a plus.
