Regional Quality Director Powder

The Regional Quality Director supports the Powder business region and reports to the Global Vice President of Industrial Quality. The role is accountable for overall quality risk management strategy and quality KPI results at six manufacturing sites in the US and three sites in Europe.  The role parters with the business unit Quality Directors and Manufacturing Leadership to develop and deliver on the global quality operations plan.

This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center located at 6745 Miller Road, Brecksville, OH 44141.

This position is also eligible for bonus and long-term incentive compensation awards based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company’s applicable plans.

Management of Managers 

• Regional USCA and EMEAI leadership of manager of managers and manager of others. 
• Recruit, train, coach, and develop Region Quality Managers (RQM), and support Plant Managers to recruit, train, coach and develop Plant Quality Managers (PCM) and plant quality staffs  
• Champion performance management process with Operations leaders to achieve business results. 
• Develop a culture of continuous improvement. 
• Foster an environment that promotes high employee engagement. 
• Indirect: Plant Quality Managers and staffs, Division Quality support functions (PTS/PCG Quality) 

Strategic Quality Planning 

• Plan and execute quality and manufacturing strategy to achieve quality and operational goals.  
• Lead regional quality improvement efforts, working closely with Area/Region Directors and Managers of Operations ADO/AMO, Plant Managers, Plant Quality Managers, and Division Quality peers and process/engineering regional lead  
• Support investigations and continuous improvement efforts related to finished goods consistency, performance and customer expectations. 
• Champion Quality Standards and ensure continuous improvement throughout the entire supply chain process (Raw Material, Formula Design, Manufacturing, Distribution). 
• Work closely with plant quality teams to ensure new processes and procedures are implemented to continuously improve quality systems and processes and achieve quality results. 
• Identify and lead strategic initiatives and projects that positively impact business results.   
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal or external partners to maintain and improve manufacturing consistency and achieve goals. 
• Develop and track tactical plan, operating plan, mid-term strategy and targets related to quality 
• Participate in development of Capex plan quality where needed. 
• Coordinate communication and collaborate with internal partners across divisions to drive the business, align priorities, and coordinate resources. 
• Represent Global Supply Chain quality in cross functional projects and ensure proper management of change. 
• Support and actively participate in Quality Review Boards (QRBs) to define what will be done by Quality Business Unit vs Quality Business Unit
•  Drive collaboration, quality engagement and improvements.    
• Collaborate with Business Unit Quality to align plan of improvement. 
• Communicate periodic status reports to Business Unity and Global Supply Chain leadership 

 Areas of Focus

This role focuses on quality risk management and continuous improvement related to product manufacturing, packaging, and delivery.  The role partners with BU Quality Directors who focus on product development and design. The role intersects with BU Quality Directors for customer quality management. Specifically: 

• Opportunity Cost. 
• Defect reduction. 
• Quality System Management (GBMS, ISO). 
• Quality Standard compliance and development. 
• Product Transfer. 
• Complaint management and root cause analysis and strategy for complaint reduction 
• Management of Change. 
• Quality assurance 
• Quality Programs; examples are Microbiology, Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA), Formula-Manufacturing Assurance (FMAP), Perfect package appearance (PPA), Manufacturing Quality Engagement (MQE) 

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
• Must have a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related field 
• Must have five (5) or more years of experience in Technical, Formulation, Product Development and/or Quality Management 
• Strong analytical, leadership and communication skills 
• Experience managing a diverse portfolio of objectives, initiatives, and projects

Preferred Qualifications:

• Manufacturing quality control experience 
• Quality Management Systems experience (ISO9001, etc.)
